The Polyvagal Theory and Connection

With the following idea in mind from Albert Einstein – if you can’t explain it simply you have not understood enough – I created this short animation with support from Robyn Dalzen and Betty Martin.

This video is a brief description of the Polyvagal Theory: Neurophysiological Foundations of Emotions, Attachment, Communication, and Self-regulation and the link to the Wheel of Consent from Betty Martin.

The Polyvagal Theory provides an explanation of what is happening in the nervous system and introduces the concept of social engagement, an essential contribution to understand the importance of safety as a foundation for connection and intimacy. If we don’t feel safe, we can’t play, feel pleasure or sensual with ourselves or with another.

Let us know what you find useful from this video.
